About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

 

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Project/Program Scheduling Manager, reporting to the Program Director. In this role you will be responsible for managing the project’s schedule in coordination with project managers, EPCM partners, contractors and supporting functions. Proactively intervening and alerting the team to schedule security threats and ensures the overall schedule is maintained by identifying potential areas of conflict, working across multiple interfaces to suggest strategies for acceleration and work arounds to PM’s and ensuring that the schedule is based on true inter-disciplinary inputs driven by construction.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Continually review, monitor and challenge EPCM Level I, II, III & IV schedules and Construction Contractors’ level +5 schedules in consultation with the Project Managers, Project Engineers, Workstream Managers, EPCM Disciplines & Project Controls, Program Director and other interfaces to maintain schedule security.
  • Ensure baseline data is well established and deviations tracked and reported accurately.
  • Critically review and confirm EPCM progress S curves against actual progress on deliverables. Check the correctness of schedule logic to confirm Critical Paths of the EPCM/Contractors schedules.
  • Develop schedules for project commissioning.
  • Prepare overall project schedule progress reports such as S-curves, histograms, Target settings, Schedule Float Analysis, Variance reports, Progress and Performance reports
  • Coach the Master Planner in ensuring integration with Umicore’s global program planning philosophies. Ensure the global reporting requirements on format and data are met in the Planisware project reporting system.
  • Report regional time plans and its evolution to the global master planning function
  • Support the cost controlling of the projects under the region’s program

 

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelors degree in Construction management, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive hands on project planning experience in a major project environment.
  • PMP or PSP designation will be considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of Microsoft Project and P6 hands on expertise.
  • Knowledge of Engineering deliverables and working of EPCM environment is necessary.
  • Highly effective communicator, confident, passionate, clear, respectfully assertive and inspiring
  • Ability to lead and present in multi-disciplinary project meetings
  • Experienced in change management and seasoned in typical mega project issues of scope creep/change.
