What you will be doing

RBM business is expected to grow significantly next 3 to 5 years in Finland, Poland and Canada. Especially, metal refinery, leaching and precursor processes, which have high PSM risk are planned to be expanded in large scale in the near future! Also, with high operation capacity of process, PSM risk is expected to increase significantly in the near future.
As Process Safety Manager (PSM) you will support standardisation of PSM implementation in all 6 current RBM sites according to RBM BU PSM road map and provide technical support to site PSM experts in order to ensure of safe design & operation of chemical processes with controlled PSM risk (explosion/fire/chemical spill risk) level. Additionally you will directly lead specific PSM studies in case the plant does not have the required competences yet.

 

Your detailed responsibilities:

1.Provide technical advice/guideline to site PSM experts.

  • Support development of all PSM experts to the same level.
  • Mentor site PSM experts to better fulfil their responsibilities.
  • Co-work with global engineering team for engineering standardization in terms of PSM.
  • Co-work with global engineering team for development of specific PSM tools (ex, ATEX zone calculation, PSV discharge set point calculation, SIL calculation).
  • Co-work with global engineering team to improve the rules for PSI (Process Safety Information) collection

2. Set up RBM PSM management system and support implementation of it.

  • Lead standardization of PSM implementation, PSM training.
  • Develop efficient communication rule/platform among PSM experts to encourage information exchange and learn from each other.
  • Agree a PSM implementation action plan with each RBM site and keep track of the implementation status.
  • Lead EHS compliance audit focusing on PSM.

3. Lead specific PSM studies as required.

  • Lead PHA, PRA, RRM, SCE/SCP.
  • Involve in QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment) or semi-QRA as necessary.
  • Lead commissioning, PSSR (Pre-Start up Safety Review).


You will be located in Brussels headquarter and travel regularly to different sites.

Who we are looking for

  • You have acquired a Master’s degree in engineering or other and you have validated experience (+15 years) in an operational or operational excellence role in an industrial environment
  • You have solid project management experience
  • You have good knowledge of variety of systems and tools applied in operational excellence (lean 6 sigma, VSM, TOC, TPM, 5S) and experience in implementing operational excellence on the work floor
  • Preferably you are familiar with production, maintenance, warehousing and internal logistics, in battery materials industry or chemical process industry.
  • Good knowledge of Cathode Active material and precursor and metal manufacturing processes is certainly a plus
  • Strong capability to coordinate and mentor your team and to organize project teams
  • You have experience with organisational change in a multi-site environment
  • Experience in working in an intercultural environment
  • You have a positive and driven approach to researching and analysing a variety of operational processes in view of optimization
  • Ability to lead and empower as well as maintain a high morale among the members of the organization
  • Capable of leading several priorities under time restraint and meet project requirements (time, output,...)
  • Well-developed business communication skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication
